“Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore.”  This soulful adaptation of The Wizard of Oz keeps the storyline fresh; leading Dorothy, Toto, and the whole crew to the hip city of Oz. As they “Ease On Down The Road” we’ll raise the roof off the Amphitheater with this rock, pop, and soul influenced musical; August 1-3, 7-10. Featuring a cast of remarkably talented middle and high school students from all over our region who work together onstage, backstage and in the orchestra; this show will be “No Bad News”. With sly beats and irrepressible cool, such tunes as “He’s The Wiz” and “I’m A Mean Ole Lion” give The Wiz some serious street cred.

The show is Broadway At Iroquois’ Rising Stars production for 2008, featuring talented area students from grades 8 through 12 as the cast and crew. This unique program of mentoring students with theatre and music professionals is in its third year. The Wiz is directed by Louisville’s own William Bradford and Choreographed by New York actor/choreographer James Harkness; who just completed his role on Broadway in The Color Purple.
